Jim Jordan is making a mistake
House Bullshit Committee Chair Jim Jordan – or whatever his title is now – sent a letter to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, requesting that he testify to the committee about the criminal investigation into Donald Trump.
Jordan is obviously trying to score cheap points with Trump’s base with this stunt. But Jordan is coming awfully close to obstruction of justice. And if he keeps it up, the Manhattan DA could potentially have grounds to criminally charge him for it.
We’ll see if Jordan is dumb enough to destroy himself by actually trying to subpoena Bragg, or by holding public hearings that won’t help Trump anyway. The bottom line is that there’s nothing Jordan can do to actually harm, derail, or delay the Manhattan DA’s prosecution of Trump. It just doesn’t work that way. It’s out of Jordan’s purview.
