George Santos’ attorney quits; legal expert predicts guilty plea
House Republican George Santos is still playing weird games, such as naming himself as his new campaign treasurer after he was accused of having invented a fake person as his previous campaign treasurer. But Santos is running out of gas.
The attorney and law firm representing Santos in his SEC and House ethics probes just quit. No reason given, but legal expert Harry Litman tweeted that he suspects it’s because Santos can’t pay the attorney anymore. In other words Santos, who can’t easily scam more money now that everyone is watching, is probably broke.
Litman further predicts that Santos will end up pleading guilty to the DOJ charges, because he won’t be able to find any attorneys willing to carry out a lengthy and nonsensical legal defense without getting paid.
