Donald Trump throws a tantrum after Texas Republicans impeach his close ally Ken Paxton
When Texas House Republicans overwhelmingly voted to impeach Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton this weekend, they made clear that they don’t care that he’s a close ally of Donald Trump. That’s because, even as Republican politicians still verbally kiss Trump’s backside, they’re clearly starting to move on from him.
Trump seems to understand this too. After the impeachment vote, Trump threw a fit on social media, calling it “A big win for the Democrats. Sooo shameful!” It’s actually not a win for the Democrats. Texas Republicans will just replace Paxton with another corrupt far right Republican. But it is a loss for Trump, because for all the whining and threats he made, Texas Republicans still weren’t willing to keep his friend around.
